News Anchoring
I really doubt there will be another period of time quite like the 12 months spanning June 1989 to June 1990 in my lifetime.  The dissolution of the Soviet Union to the freeing of Nelson Mandela to the haze left over from the June 1989 student movement in Beijing, this was an incredible time in history and one where I was privileged to have a front row seat as a junior (very junior) anchor at Metro News in Hong Kong.  I was 19 years old when most of these recordings were made.

our village idiot

""Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

"I want to thank the astronauts who are with us, the courageous spacial entrepreneurs who set such a wonderful example for the young of our country."

"Had we to do it over again, we would look at the consequences of catastrophic success, being so successful so fast that an enemy that should have surrendered or been done in escaped and lived to fight another day."
