Farewell CNN
After nearly five years at CNN, I said good-bye to CNN International on April 21, 2000.  Looking back, it was a defining time in my career and one that taught me so much about what is great in journalism and why the business is deteriorating so depressingly fast.  Among the highlights of my time at CNN came on my very last day, at the end of my final show when anchor Jim Clancy ad libbed an on-air send off for me.  Thankfully I collected the air check and now cherish this clip more than any other in my collection.

""Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

"I want to thank the astronauts who are with us, the courageous spacial entrepreneurs who set such a wonderful example for the young of our country."

"Had we to do it over again, we would look at the consequences of catastrophic success, being so successful so fast that an enemy that should have surrendered or been done in escaped and lived to fight another day."
