When I came back to the USA in the Spring of 1991, I had
caught the news bug and I was ready to embark on my new
career. So, I hit the streets to teach myself how
to report. The clips below are from time reporting
out of my dorm room at USC in LA or from my parents
bedroom in Berkeley. Yes, it was a bit crude but
it was the best journalism education anywhere on the
planet. It's the same advice I give to young
people today trying to get in the biz... just get out
there and do it!
