The Bonobos
THe highlight of my visit came during a visit to a special bonobo preserve about an hour outside of Kinshasa.  The bonobos are an increasingly rare group of primates that hold the special privilege of being the closest genetic match to us humans.  Thankfully thereare preserves like this one to help give these guys a chance to survive the human onslaught on their environment.

Our first sighting

A family of bonobos

Taking a breather

A different kind of ape

Baby bonobo

Happy lil' guy

Looks like ice cream

Amazing flowers

Wonderful colors

NOT a bonobo!

Hmmm, yummy root!

Chilling out

Slurp slurp slurp

Strike a Rodin pose

Afternoon soak

On the trail

""Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

"I want to thank the astronauts who are with us, the courageous spacial entrepreneurs who set such a wonderful example for the young of our country."

"Had we to do it over again, we would look at the consequences of catastrophic success, being so successful so fast that an enemy that should have surrendered or been done in escaped and lived to fight another day."
