Speakers' Corner
At the risk of offending my Singaporean friends, and even the government, I wanted to highlight what I like least about this country.  The political structure here is an odd mix of the Bush family and the Chinese Communist Party.  This odd duo has produced a psuedo-authoritarian environment where basic civil liberties are tightly controlled.   In one jarring example of the lack of freedom of thought, there is Speakers' Corner.

A corner of freedom

Not very popular

Nice park though

No microphones

""Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

"I want to thank the astronauts who are with us, the courageous spacial entrepreneurs who set such a wonderful example for the young of our country."

"Had we to do it over again, we would look at the consequences of catastrophic success, being so successful so fast that an enemy that should have surrendered or been done in escaped and lived to fight another day."
